Team Arrow USA/BTK Motorsports – WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series – South Bend Report

Concluding over the weekend at the Michiana Raceway Park in South Bend, Indiana, the second round of the WKA Manufacturer’s Cup Series is in the books. Arrow now has five total wins for the ’09 ManCup series. The two day race event unquestionably provided much amusement for the spectators as the field of drivers was stacked with much competition.

A major highlight of the weekend was on Sunday when Sam Beasley (Beasley Motorsports/Arrow) took the checkered flag in Yamaha Junior Heavy aboard his Arrow XE 28 chassis for his first win of the season. Sam along with teammate, Dakota Pesek (Slattery Karting/Arrow) led the twelve-lap Prefinal with a 1-2 win for Arrow. In the Final, the two Arrow pilots would stay up front. Beasley once again scored the winning victory by over a two-second lead. Pesek dropped one position to claim the third podium spot. Also driving the new Arrow XE 28, Olivia Beam (Beasley Motorsports/Arrow) finished seventh. Arrow drivers, James Clark Jr. (BTK Motorsports) and Luca Forgeois (BTK Motorsports) finished tenth and eleventh, respectively. Backing up to Saturday, Pesek and Beasley paired up in the Yamaha Jr Lite Final to win the second and third positions in that order. Once again, Beam showed her consistency with a sixth place finish in the Final along with Kyle Smith (BTK Motorsports/Arrow) rounding out the top ten. In Saturday’s Yamaha Sportsman Heavy, Arrow racer, John Powers (Slattery Karting) finished fourth.

In the HPV Sportsman Final, Scott Rumsey (Slattery Karting/Arrow) and John Powers (Slattery Karting/Arrow) finished eighth and tenth, correspondingly. In the HPV Heavy Final, Beasley with teammate, Beam finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Keeping his momentum on Sunday, Beasley won the third podium position in HPV Junior Lite Final. In addition, Arrow teammate, Jacob Donald (Beasley Motorsports/Arrow) finished ninth.

Another delightful pinnacle of the weekend came when Arrow pilot Breyton Santee (Beasley Motorsports) won the HPV Sportsman Final. This is Breyton’s first national win. In the Cadet Finals, Breyton earned two top ten finishes—fifth on Saturday and ninth on Sunday. Just as well, in Saturday’s Cadet Final, Tyler Moneypnny (Beasley Motorsports/Arrow) finished seventh.

The senior class instigated some very exciting racing over the weekend. On Saturday in the TaG Final, Brandon Jones (BTK Motorsports/Arrow) finished fourth, and CJ Lintner (BTK Motorsports/Arrow) finished sixth. In TaG Masters, Arrow pilot Michael Busse earned the fifth place finish in the Final. In HPV Lite, Wyatt Gooden (Beasley Motorsports/Arrow) rounded out the top ten in the Final. In Yamaha SuperCan Heavy, CJ Lintner consistently stayed up front – winning the third podium position. Following close behind, Cody Robinson picked up the fifth place finish.

Sunday grew to be even more interesting for the senior class. In a stacked TaG field, Lintner aboard the Arrow X1 chassis proved to be competitive again on day two by qualifying on pole. Lintner challenged the pack in both races of the day for the lead. Yet, he consistently held the second place spot in the Prefinal and the Final – winning P2 in both. Cruising in the new X1, Brandon Jones certainly displayed his skills again on Sunday – finishing ninth in the TaG Final.

In HPV Heavy, Wyatt Gooden displayed his impressive talent by winning P2 in the Final. Rounding out the day in Yamaha Masters, Steve Rumsey (Slattery Karting/Arrow) scored a sixth place finish.

Decatur, Alabama – (May 21, 2009) – Arrow Racing Karts dominated the Rotax Masters field at the third and fourth round of the Southwest Regional Cup (SWRC) series in Norman, Oklahoma over the past weekend (May 16 and 17). Mexico native, Mario Garcia without fail showed his talent in Rotax Masters. Mario qualified second on Saturday, but first place was DQ‘d for weight so Mario moved up to first place in qualifying. On Saturday in the Prefinal, Mario captured the first place finish. Miraculously, Mario went on to win the Final. On Sunday, Mario finished the Prefinal in second. Yet, Mario managed to battle for the lead – winning P1 in the Final. Mario is currently in first place in the SWRC Rotax point’s series.

Also representing Team Arrow USA was the ’08 Rotax Micro Max Grand Nationals champion Patricio “Pato” O’Ward. In the Rotax Mini-Max field, Pato consistently displayed his driver skills during the two-day event. In Saturday’s Final, Pato finished fourth, and he finished eighth on Sunday’s Final.

Team News – Arrow/BTK Motorsports – FWT CIK Ocala

BTK Motorsports wrapped up a successful 2009 Florida Winter Tour campaign this past weekend in Ocala, Florida.

Back again for the last round, Australian National Champion, David Sera continued his dominance on the new Arrow X1 chassis in the TAG Senior class. Sera has been on a tear since December, winning both TAG 1 & 2 at the WKA Daytona Kart Week, and he also provided convincing victories in Rotax Senior at Homestead and Ocala. Sera’s week definitely got off to a slow start as mechanical woes with his rented TAG engine package forced the BTK crew to make a daring gamble. Thus, the team was pressed to go with the under-horsepowered Leopard engine. As a result, Sera was forced to break-in his engine during Saturday’s qualifying session. Yet, he still managed to gain a starting position outside the front row. On the start of the prefinal, David got the jump on the start and checked out immediately. However, since there was not sufficient break-in time, the engine seized a few laps later. This would set the stage for an interesting final. Starting last in P15, Sera methodically picked off drivers one by one, and overtook P1 just after the halfway point in the race. The BTK team driver then maintained his lead and cruised to victory against all odds. “The X1 was flawless just as it was last weekend, which helped tremendously in overtaking the field from the tail. I’d like to give my BTK team credit for their hard work and not giving up, and Barry Lewis from Billet Performance for all of his help,” stated an elated Sera.

Day two for TAG Senior would prove to be a bit less eventful for Sera. David qualified on pole, won the prefinal and dominated the final with a 4.9 second victory. Undeniably, Sera’s 40-hour voyage to the states paid off in the end. “Deadly” David Sera is no doubt a force to be reckoned with in karting.
CJ Cronis, Connor Thomas and Luca Forgeois all had some great moments in TAG Junior. Cronis’ weekend was highlighted by a second place qualifying effort in Round 6 along with two eighth place finishes in the finals. Cronis finished the FWT seventh in the point standings after being taken off track on Sunday. Proving to be a consistent top ten runner, Thomas had his first top ten finish in a national event on Saturday. Forgeois fought around the tenth position all weekend as he continued to step up his pace while completing his first full year of karting.

“We are very pleased with our FWT results this season, and couldn’t be happier with debut of the new X1 chassis. It has lived up to the hype surrounding it. We can’t wait for the guys at the club level to begin racing it and to start gaining results,” commented Eric Jones of BTK Motorsports.

BTK Motorsports and Arrow Racing Karts are very happy with Team Arrow’s results at the close of this year’s FWT. BTK would like to thank all of the devoted racers that participated in the event. In addition, BTK would like to recognize all of the pit-crew who helped out under the tent and made for a smooth weekend of racing.

BTK would like to say a big thank you to Ron Jones for all his hard work and dedication to team over the entire FWT. Also, BTK would like to thank you to Barry Lewis with Billet Performance Karting whose help with David’s racing was invaluable.

Team Arrow USA will be present at WKA ManCup, STARS East, SuperNats, RIGP and Rotax Nationals. If you would like to become a member of Team Arrow USA, please call 1.877.937.2232.

FWT Rotax Ocala

The final Rotax round of the 2009 Florida Winter Tour is in the books. With over 160 entries, the competition was definitely stacked as some of the finest pilots battled for the title.

Australian national champion, David Sera was certainly the highlight of the weekend. David took the thirty hour long journey from the outback to compete one last time in the ’09 FWT. On Saturday, David missed pole by three one-thousandths of a second. However, that would not stop David. He took over the lead in the pre-final, and he cruised to victory lane without trouble aboard his Arrow X1. Sera would also take the lead early on in the final—sailing to the checkered by over a four-second lead. On Sunday, Sera took pole and won the pre-final by over a five-second lead. In the final, David was leading with over a five-second advantage when a mechanical issue caused him to DNF. Sera will have another chance to go to the podium next weekend in TaG Senior.

Arrow Racing Karts also did well in Rotax Masters. Arrow pilot, Mario Garcia Cantu did an outstanding job on Sunday as he won P3 in the final. Furthermore, Arrow kart racers, Matt Tilden and Keith Karr finished ninth and tenth, respectively, in Sunday’s final.

Hat’s off to Canadian driver, Jeffrey Petriello (Arrow/SRA Karting). Petriello once again dominated the DD2 field – winning the pre-final and the final on both Saturday and Sunday.

The 2008 Rotax Micro Max National Champion, Pato O’Ward, was consistent all weekend. Pato finished fifth on Saturday’s pre-final and fifth in the final. Then, on Sunday, Pato won P3 in the pre-final and finished fifth in the final. Pato demonstrated his talent and skills throughout the entire 2009 FWT series landing him a third place finish in the championship.

BTK would like to congratulate the Arrow Racing Karts/BTK Motorsports sponsored Rotax Senior Champion Fabio Orsolon (Birel) for his outstanding performance in this year’s FWT season.

Everyone at Team Arrow USA would like to say a special thank you to Kevin Loster with for his help with carburetor tuning on David Sera’s kart.

BTK Motorsports and Arrow Racing Karts are very pleased with Team Arrow’s results at the close of the FWT Rotax season. BTK would like to thank all of the dedicated racers that participated in the event. Also, Arrow/BTK would like to recognize all of the pit-crew who helped out under the tent and made for a smooth weekend of racing. Team News – Arrow Karts /BTK Motorsports – FWT Homestead 2 Report

Rounds three & four of the Florida Winter Tour Rotax Challenge in Homestead, Florida this past Valentine’s weekend proved to be another huge success for Team Arrow USA. The team worked well together sharing data to get all of the team drivers up to speed very quickly on a newly paved Homestead track. The track also ran in the clockwise direction for the first time in FWT history which added a new twist for the drivers.

On Saturday, Arrow Kart pilots consistently demonstrated their perseverance and talent. Nine year-old Patricio “Pato” O'Ward was on top of his game as usual in the Micro Max class. Pato came from ninth in the Final, carefully picking off karts one by one, and then, made up over a two second margin on the leader. Pato caught the leader in the final laps, made a veteran move with only three corners remaining and took his Arrow Cadet chassis to the checkered flag in first! Day two would prove to be kind to Pato as well, as he garnered the pole in Sunday's qualifying session establishing a new track record of 53.708 seconds in Micro Max. Pato nearly pulled off the victory again on the last lap of Prefinal as he would finish second. Pato would ultimately fall .109 of a second short, capping a great weekend with a second place finish in the Final. On the podium, Pato thanked his mechanic and tuner, Charlie Swayne, his father and BTK/Arrow for all of their continued support.

In the capped Masters class of 34 pre-registered participants, Arrow Karts were well-represented in the paddock. New Team Arrow USA member Jim Busby, from California was a force to be reckoned with all weekend in the Masters class. It was Jim's first weekend on the new X1 chassis, and he almost started it off with a win, finishing second to stand out Colin Lynn by a few lengths on Saturday’s Final. Mexican driver, Mario Garcia Cantu had a great weekend finishing sixth on Saturday’s Final and amazingly won the second podium in Sunday’s Final. New team driver, Matt Tilden from Georgia put it all together Sunday in Masters. Charging from the tail of the field in the thirty-second starting spot, Tilden was able to capture an impressive fifth place finish in his Team Arrow USA debut.  Additionally, Mario and Tilden were both on the new X1 CIK chassis. Fellow Masters driver, Keith Karr, had some hard luck running solidly in the top five in both Saturday and Sunday finals, yet as luck would have it he would get taken off course. Watch for Karr and Tilden to be strong at the final rounds in Ocala.

Traveling from Salt Lake City, Michael Self (BTK Motorsports) had a weekend that "could have been" in the Rotax Senior class. Self's weekend started by qualifying fifth in a stellar field of international Rotax competitors. Self was patient to begin the Final on Saturday and gradually began hunting down the second and third place drivers. Also in the Senior Final, starting from the twenty-eighth position, Christophe Boisclair (SRA Karting Canada) managed to battle to the front of the pack moving up 21 spots to finish seventh on Saturday. Boisclair unfailingly returned to the forefront in Senior on Sunday. Boisclair finished eighth in the Pre-Final and won the third podium in the Final.

All the way from Canada, Arrow racer, Jeffrey Petriello (SRA Karting Canada) put on a very impressive showing – winning both the Pre-Final and Final in the highly competitive DD2 class on both Saturday and Sunday.

BTK Motorsports and Arrow Racing Karts are very pleased with the results of the third and fourth round of the 2009 FWT Rotax weekend. Furthermore, Arrow Racing Karts and BTK Motorsports would like to thank all the racers who took part in the event and would like to congratulate them on their performance. BTK along with Team Arrow USA will be present at the forthcoming CIK weekend of the FWT. Moreover, BTK looks forward to the next challenging FWT Rotax Race at Ocala in March. Team Arrow USA will be present at all FWT events (both Rotax and TaG weekends), WKA ManCup, STARS East, SuperNats, RIGP, Rotax Nationals and many more. If you would like to be apart of the team, please call BTK at 1.877.937.2232.
